This project was centered around the creation of a planning/focus app that allows users to keep track of their daily schedules and assignments while helping each other stay on task. Users can create and keep track of events on a digital schedule, set study plans that rotate between work and rest periods, block apps from being used during certain time frames, and view the progress connected users are making on their tasks.
Research
Before designing anything, I searched for apps that contained similar functions to those I intended to have in my app. I found Pomodoro Focus Keeper, Canvas Mobile, and Apple Screen Time were good examples to pull from.
Personas
I created 3 personas to design my app for. I based them off myself and those around me, primarily staying within a college-age demographic. The primary persona is Evelyn, while the secondary and tertiary personas are John and Sam respectively.
User Flow
With the personas in mind, I created a task flow that aimed to fulfill their needs from the app while also showcasing all of the primary features.
Physical/Digital Sketches
I started sketching out several screens that would be visited during the trial run. I experimented with button sizes and placements, where features would be located, as well as screens where pop-ups would appear. Afterwards, I created rudimentary digital wireframes to better envision the precise sizes of the buttons and other features.
Style Guide
After completing a digital layout, I experimented with multiple color schemes. I worked with primarily calming, cool colors to create a friendly and welcoming experience.
Final Touch-Ups
I applied the finalized color scheme to every page on the app layout to create a consistent and polished experience.
Mockup Video
Using Figma’s preview feature, I linked all of my screens together to create a working prototype of the app in action.
